Good day everyone, hope you all are well and merry.

OK today's blog is a review of episode 1 of the new BBC1 Christmas drama.

I have been waiting for a month to watch this.

I'm not going to give any spoilers away as you all know what A Christmas Carol is all about but this a modern update of the classic tale by Charles Dickens.

But this version was written by Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight. Unfortunately when the trailer was released it said that Tom Hardy was going to be in it but he was cut from the final version, disappointed here. However I do love an update on a classic because it was way overdue for one.

The first episode which we all know that during the first chapter of the book and many other adaptions Scrooge was visited by the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley who tells him that'll he'll be visited by three spirits or else scrooge will meet the same fate as Jacob.

The first episode was gritty, a bit gruesome as we all know that at some point during Jacobs visit his haw dislodges and Jacob had to reattach his jaw in order to speak properly. Guy Pearce who plays Scrooge really nailed the hard face and cold heart that Scrooge has in the first chapter of the book even though I thought that Guy looked a bit young to play the part of Scrooge. They must of think that it's never too early for someone to play the part of Scrooge. Good thing there was hardly any tweed in the first episode so far but there was one lad wearing a flat cap. I thought it was going to be Peaky Blinders free but que sera sera.

One of the best thing about A Christmas Carol getting a modern update treatment is that we get to see how Jacob Marley got his chains and who gave them and also who told Jacob that he must give Scrooge the heads up about his ghostly visits. At the end of the episode Scrooge preps himself for his visits.

But we all know what's going to happen in tonight's episode when Scrooge gets a visit from the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Sorry for the lateness again. It's because of me being on my time of the month, going to Casa Peri Peri and the stress of buying Christmas presents for friends. Thank goodness there's only two people
