Filey 8th-15th February

We arrived in Filey the day after my birthday. I was surprised that I received a birthday card from one of my mum's friends, I never ever receive post in Filey. On Wednesday 9th February went to Tesco and as we're finishing up I noticed a woman lying face down on the floor. She wasn't in any health trouble of any but was having a meltdown. I can tell she's on the higher end of the spectrum. I really do feel sorry for her and I understand what she's going through. Living with autism can be hard and make our lives tough to live through, but we manage to live with it. Late that night we watched The King's Man on Disney+, prequel to Kingsman:

I was a bit disappointed that the fight scene with Rasputin to the 1812 Overture wasn't that spectacular as the scene where everyone's heads exploded. But I was surprised to hear that Ralph Fiennes read a bit of Dulce et Decorum est, my favourite war poem:

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,

Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,

Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,

And towards our distant rest began to trudge.

Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,

But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;

Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots

Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling

Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,

But someone still was yelling out and stumbling

And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.—

Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,

As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,

He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace

Behind the wagon that we flung him in,

And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,

His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood

Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,

Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud

Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest

To children ardent for some desperate glory,

The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est

Pro patria mori.

That brought back memories when I learned about war poems in English during high school. I forgot to mention that on Tuesday we watched an anime film called Child of Kamiari Month on Netflix:

On Friday me and my mum went for our usual walk to the country park followed by a trip to Frothies. Later that night we all watched The Kid Who Would Be King:

It was alright especially since Patrick Stewart shared the role of Merlin with Angus Imrie. However all afternoon after coming home from the walk I started to feel fed up. Early Saturday morning I found out why I was feeling fed up, it's because of what us women go through every month.

But to all the young women out there and those currently going through it once a month it's natural to feel emotional as well. So my advice to help you is do things you like to keep you distracted. My favourite things that keep me distracted are:

  • Anime TV & Film

  • Chocolate

  • Colouring Books

  • Friends

  • Reading a book

  • Fave TV series

  • Fave Films

Book wise I've been reading the last book of Ali McNamara's Notting Hill...Actually trilogy. It's a great trilogy. We've been selling these books at BHF and I never got round to buying them. So last year as a be-lated Christmas/birthday presents my friend Catherine Taylor got me these books and I'm in heaven.

15th February, I haven't been writing for a short while, menstrual related reasons. But on our last day in Filey we watched Art on BBC documentary about Vincent Van Gogh. I really enjoyed it, a lot of people have their reasons why he's their favourite artist, me for instance is because I understand him as I have a disability myself. Guess it takes one to know one to understand they've been through. There's so much emotion in Van Gogh's paintings. I do hope to see them again.

Announcement:

After watching the second series of Kuroko's Basketball I've decided to take a bit of time off reviewing anime series so that I can focus on finishing my review blog on Anton Du Beke's A Christmas To Remember and review anime movies.
