Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Episode 11-13, S2

Ep. 35 (S2, Ep. 11):

What is Stagiaire? Well it’s a French word for “trainee.” So they’ll be sent to different food establishments to help and learn on the job. This is not going to be easy. And they’ll be working in pairs. Soma has ended up with Erina’s secretary Hisako Arato. All they can do is do there best. The restaurant they’re working in used to serve only locals until the rail line was built. Which means the customers come in together, order together, eat together and pay to together. To me time for those customers are running slow as they’re impatient. However Soma keeps a cool head on his shoulders and managed to take those customers orders. Erina’s been paired with Megumi and she’s still acting like Veruca Salt. All spoiled and bratty. Refusing to do the dishes in the restaurant she’s training in. Erina looks like she’s running the place like the back of her spoilt bratty hand. The restaurant that Soma and Hisako are working at never had trainees like them before because they work so hard and served to customers on time.

“Whether the food’s delicious or not

doesn’t matter if you can’t even serve it, right?”

The owner of the restaurant liked the idea of his restaurant should be reservation only and the changes around the restaurant all thanks to Soma and Hisako.

“If there really is a way

to achieve something,

you need to set pride aside

and latch onto it.”

Ep. 36 (S2, Ep. 12):

Looks like Soma will be working for Kojirō Shinomiya at his restaurant. Looks like Soma and Kojiro remember each other as soon as Soma arrived. Soma was surprised and Kojiro didn’t expect that. And the first thing that Soma did was to clean up the day before Kojirō opened the Tokyo branch of his restaurant. Without a doubt Soma will get to his speciality by the end of the week, if he does what Kojirō tells him what to do. By the sound of it Soma has got it all under his control. Pretty everyone he so far met were nervous, this is a different kitchen Soma ever experienced. How is Soma going to cope and do this? The head chef is one hot headed chef. But for the other students there’s tension. But they seemed to be coping alright in their own way. Time for Soma to figure out his unique food. But with Soma staying at Kojirō’s restaurant over night he pretty much cleaned and peeled the ingredients, learned his way around the restaurant, mastering the techniques and still figuring out what is his own unique food is. I bet Kojirō is well impressed with Soma because everyone else is so proud for Soma.

Ep. 37 (S2, Ep. 13):

Last episode of the current series. I do hope Netflix adds series 3 on because I want to continue watching it. Because not only I’m learning about different kinds of food but I am picking up wisdom from each of the characters. I hope Soma’s dish gets it’s place on SHINO’s Tokyo’s new menu. But for the soft open it went really well. However the evening isn’t over yet as Kojirō has invited the chefs that Soma met at the training camp during the last series as well as Kojirō’s mother. Kojirō is sure is a mummy’s boy as he does care for her. After having a meal made by Kojirō the chefs somehow had already learned about the competition between Soma and Kojirō and decided to stay and judge, much to Kojirō surprise. But the competition is going to be full of heat because not only Kojirō and Soma are competing, the chefs at SHINO’s Tokyo’s are also competing. Looks like Soma has finally figured out what his father has been teaching him all these years and made oyako-don with a whole roasted quail meat. The chefs thought it was delicious, however it’s not yet worthy of being on SHINO’s menu. But Kojirō did give Soma some pointers, which did help Soma’s dish get onto SHINO’s menu. But on the better side Soma passed the Stagiaire. As soon as Soma arrived back at the academy he finds a box full of names of those who wanted to challenge him to a Food War. He certainly became popular whilst he was away. He might as well do at least one Food Wars right on the spot.
