Ep. 11 & 12, S1:
WHAT!!! THAT CHEF IS IN NO MOOD TO TAKE SOMA’S FOOD WAR CHALLENGE?!! THAT IS JUST REIDCULOUS OF HIM! Another chef disagrees with him because she thought that Megumi’s dish tasted yummy. Looks like there’s going to be a Food War, an unofficial one because an official one will disrupt the students training. If Soma wins: Megumi will continue her training. If Soma lose: both Soma and Megumi will be expelled and will not continue their training. This chef doesn’t scare him. Their journey doesn’t have to end here and there. But Soma and Megumi’s friends have got a bad feeling about this. The former graduates will be the judges, they have two hours to make their dishes and Megumi will be the head chef and Soma will be sous-chef. That way Megumi can learn to not to reply on Soma all the time. All she needs to do is calm down and focus on what she’s going to make. As Soma’s dad always say:
“Cooking is about taking that is everything in your heart and soul and putting everything you are on a plate”
So if Megumi forgets everything what the chef is making, she’ll do fine, just don’t over think. And Soma will support her no matter what. To the judges the graduate chef’s tasted magnifique as if a magic spell was cast upon it. But things might change once Megumi presents her dish.
Megumi has made a terrine. What will the judges think of it? There’s only one way to find out. And that is to taste it first. Even though everyone at the academy thinks that there’s no place in the culinary world for a county bumpkin who hasn’t got talent. I maybe part Yorkshire, part Irish but in my opinion I think that there is room in the culinary world for a country bumpkin who does or doesn’t have talent. Also in my opinion for those who don’t have talent can develop culinary talent. I’d say Megumi has talent. OMG!!! The judges thought that Megumi’s terrine is delicious. The graduate must take back in his decision to expel Megumi. The terrine is pleasing to the eye as well as the palette.

THAT IS 100% UNBELIVEABLE!!! However it was a landslide as the host casted his vote all because Kojiro doesn’t know where to go next after becoming the first Japanese to win a French culinary prize. But from childhood Kojiro kept being antisocial. Looks like Megumi has won and both she and Soma can keep on going with their training. I’m really glad that they’re going to continue with their training. And I’m glad that Soma gave Megumi a confidence boost.
Ep. 13, 14 & 15, S1:
They all made it through the gruelling training camp or was it just a dream? Thankfully it was just a dream for Satoshi. Half of the students passed their training and the rest failed their training and left the school. Erina certainly does walk around the entire training camp like a queen. Well they won’t be getting any sleep tonight because their next challenge is a breakfast challenge and it has to be done by 6AM. It’s going to be a lot harsher than the others. Erina is stuck up, snobby and sooo determined to see Soma gets expelled. Megumi is still getting panic attacks. But the advice she received from Soma:
“Make the kind of food that you want to make and eat. That’ll be enough”
And the advice she received from Gin:
“Hospitality…that is the essence of your cooking!”
Megumi though very hard and came up with an idea of what to cook because not many people eat breakfast. At least Soma is making something with a different texture. 200 PLATES! IN 2 HOURS?! UNBELIEVABLE! Some of the judges are elders and they love Megumi’s breakfast stew. Some students pulled it off, some failed. For those who pulled it off filled their dishes with wonder. Erina reached her 200 plates and the judges gave her the title “The Queen Of Breakfast.” I hope Soma will catch up, because he served 10 customers.
Soma made fluffy soufflé omelettes, but no one seemed to try it. AND THEY’RE FALLING APART!!! AND DEFLATED!!! WHAT IS SOMA GOING TO DO?!!! With no buffet, no guarantee the food that was put out will be eaten right away. Soma is not the one to give up. All of the students are really up against each other. But remembering his father’s teachings will help. And Soma will make 200 dishes all at once and remake fluffy soufflé omelettes. Thankfully a little girl really loved them. And everyone is really impressed with his fluffy soufflé omelettes. OK this Alice Nakiri is a wannabe Erina (who happens to be her cousin) and take the top spot. Looks like everyone is disinterested in Erina’s breakfast. They all agree that Soma is the fastest cook they’ve ever seen. All of Soma’s friends are looking at him and hoping he that serves 200 dishes or more. And he definitely reached his goal. The next challenge take place in 4 HOURS?! Soma better get some sleep first. 352 students failed and left the school and there are 628 students left. That was about 980 students in training. But at least the remaining students get to have a full-course dinner served up by their graduates.
The opening title for episode 15 was better than the opening title for the previous 14 episodes. Closing credits for episode 15 was beautiful and stunning. Very manga it was. Training over now and they all made it. But in actual fact this training cam also serves as recruitment base for the top chefs:

· Hitoshi Skeimori
· Donato Gotōda
· Hinako Inui
They pretty much have their eyes set on Megumi. Especially Hinoka herself as she looks like she’s totally obsessed with her. She really needs to control her obsession before she freaks out. Some former graduates take time off from their restaurants and work here as sous-chefs. Finding new chefs is not easy task. So the training camp provides them a good way to search. Makes perfect sense to me. They offered Soma a job but his heart belongs to his family restaurant. Soma forgot his hand towel and the bus back to the academy left without him. And the same goes with Erina. Looks like they have to travel by car together. Looks like Erina can’t get rid of Soma that easy. Erina believes that Soma won’t be picked to be a member of the fall selection. But I believe Soma will be picked. Soma and his dad both at the academy? This is going to be awkward. Event though Soma’s dad is famous around the academy. That is something we don’t learn everyday. Well Soma, looks like he’s got a lot to live up to. All of Soma’s friends have seemed to of fallen for Soma’s dad’s cooking. But at least they get to spend some time together. And Soma’s dad will get to share his memories of his time at the academy with Soma.
