I remember a couple of years back when I first watched this film let alone when we first got Netflix was that this film was a bit weird and quirky. But that’s what anime is, weird and quirky. So let’s get started.
The first short of the film is called Kanini & Kanino:
It’s about two under water little children who live with their dad who they call Tata. And their job as a family is to hunt for fish. So they use a lobster or crab arm as a way to catch a fish. But a long time ago the kids mother went away and never returned. I don’t mean like she died, she just swam up to the surface or something. One night Kanini & Kanino’s Tata was caught in the water current and was whisked away. So Kanini became the sole provider for him and sister. Once they reached the surface after being scared by a fish that was ten time bigger than them they found a wing, went back under water, saw their Tata’s crab arm and found him in a bad way as he’s been hiding from a giant fish all this time. So in order to get to their Tata, the two children briefly distracted the giant fish only to narrowly escape the clutches of its mouth when it caught and eaten. After tending to their Tata’s wounds they found their mother, who surprisingly had five more children. Maybe that’s why she left her children and husband so that she can find a safe place for them to live and bring up five more children. It was a bitter sweet reunion. But like all families kids grow up and leave their family home.
The second film is called Life Ain’t Gonna Lose:
This story is about a boy named Shun who is allergic to eggs. During his hospital trip he took part in a tolerance test. Each child patient received some pancakes that contains something that they may not like. But it’s just a test so that the nurses and doctors can study on how much they can eat. Shun’s mother is worried about the nature field trip that his class are going on which does involve staying overnight. She’s been like this since Shun was a baby when she found her son covered in blisters, took him to the hospital and was told about his diagnosis and what to do about it even if he does eat something that contains eggs. I bet that does make the weekly shop very hard let alone going out for meals at a restaurant because he can’t eat anything with eggs in it. One day after playing a game of baseball Shun returns home and starts having a small tub of vanilla ice cream, but when he looked at the ingredients on the tub it says that it contains eggs and immediately phones his mother. She told him to get his injection out but he didn’t hear what his mother also said. She told him to stay where he is and she’ll phone someone to come and help him. But he ran out of their home, blister boils began to develop, his condition gets worse and not long after someone who Shun’s mother phoned came to help, Shun’s mother returns home and accompanies her son to the hospital. Shortly after Shun gets better, goes on his nature field trip and enjoys life despite that he has to be weary about eating eggs or something that contains eggs.
The final film is called Invisible:
It’s about a man who is completely invisible. The only thing we know he’s around is his clothes. By the looks of things is that no one seems to know that the man exists. They just completely ignore him no matter where he is or what he’s doing. So my guess was that he’s living an isolated life what with no one noticing his existence. It must be really sad to live like that. After visiting a small supermarket the invisible man began to float away. Well he would be since he’s pretty much made out of nothing. Shortly after a blind man and his dog noticed him and wondered why he’s there and offered him some food. Not long after he ate his food the invisible man noticed something, a pram in the middle of the road and on going lorry speeding past him. Thankfully with a bit of flying and floating he made it to the pram and saved the baby.
